Expectations of Behavior At Saint Joseph Academy Dances

In the tradition of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Saint Joseph Academy encourages Christian moral principles regarding behavior at school activities. Proper behavior, attire, and dance conduct are required; sexually explicit dancing is prohibited. Any student who attends the dance is subject to taking a breathalyzer test. Students who violate school rules are subject to immediate dismissal from the dance, a call to their parents, and school. In case of any unlawful behavior, police officers at the dance may be notified.

The Saint Joseph Academy Fall Dance begins at 8:00 pm and ends at 11:00 pm. Students must check-in no later than 8:30 pm and may not leave before 10:30 pm; students who leave the dance early are not permitted to return. Facial coverings are required inside the building. Guest are required to present a photo ID. Junior High School students are NOT permitted to attend the fall dance. Guests must be under the age of 21. 

Freshmen & Sophomore students will enter the dance using the Main Entrance doors of the Academy Building.

Juniors & Seniors enter the dance using the Academy Center doors.


Guidelines for Attire

Saint Joseph Academy, rooted in the spirituality of the Congregation of Saint Joseph, encourages young women to live lives guided by moral principles, demonstrated in their behavior and appearance.

The following styles are not appropriate:

  • Low cut tops

  • Bare midriffs

  • Excessively short dress lengths (hem of a skirt or dress no shorter than mid-thigh)

Young men who attend a dance are required to keep their dress shirts on throughout the evening.

Students are encouraged to wear flip-flops or athletic shoes for safety and comfort; bare feet are not allowed in the Academy Center.
